Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of Gloucester County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its material, or submitting a search means that the visitor agrees to every term below. Anyone who does not agree with these conditions must stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. Gloucester County Criminal History is privately operated and has no connection to a local, state, or federal government body. Neither the website nor its advertising partners offers a service intended for credit decisions, employment screening, insurance underwriting, tenant evaluation, or another activity regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The website helps visitors locate criminal-record resources in Gloucester County, Virginia. It is neither a private investigation business nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is an independently operated private reference website, not a government service. We neither maintain official criminal records nor retrieve records, conduct official background checks, or submit filings for visitors.

Our content directs readers to the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office, the Virginia courts serving the county, the Virginia Department of State Police Criminal Justice Information Services Division, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. It may also connect visitors with outside research tools. Requests for existing records held by qualifying Virginia public bodies are governed by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Code § 2.2-3700 et seq. Criminal-history dissemination through the state repository is controlled by Code of Virginia § 19.2-389.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the website, a visitor agrees not to:

  • Interfere with service or prevent others from reaching the website
  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated systems against its pages
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any account, server, or system
  • Use information to threaten, stalk, or harass another person
  • Rely on website content for a lending, insurance, housing, or hiring decision
  • Violate any applicable local, Virginia, or federal law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No one may use content found here, or information obtained from a linked tool, to threaten, stalk, intimidate, harass, or discriminate against another person. Such conduct may also violate criminal law. This restriction is especially important for public registry data. Code of Virginia § 9.1-918 prohibits intimidation and harassment based on information from the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Registry information exists for public-safety awareness, not vigilantism, employment blacklisting, or housing discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Gloucester County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency as the FCRA defines that term. We do not prepare consumer reports, credit reports, or background checks. Our advertising partners likewise do not provide services designed to evaluate job applicants, rental applications, insurance pricing, or creditworthiness. A visitor agrees not to use information from this website or a linked service to:

  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Evaluate an applicant for housing or a tenancy
  • Assess creditworthiness or calculate an insurance premium
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or public benefit
  • Carry out any other activity regulated by the FCRA

A person who needs a legally compliant check for a regulated purpose should use the proper official channel through the Virginia Department of State Police or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

The material on this website is informational and is not legal advice. Although it describes criminal-record systems in Gloucester County, it cannot determine how a warrant, charge, conviction, expungement rule, or other law applies to a particular person. Individual advice should come from a Virginia-licensed attorney.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are supplied "as is." We make no promise that:

  • Partner search results will be complete or correct
  • Every page will remain free from bugs, errors, or security flaws
  • The website will operate continuously or without interruption
  • Information will always be accurate, current, or complete

Criminal records can change as charges are filed, dismissed, sealed, or expunged. Gaps and delays can occur even when reasonable efforts are made to keep the material current. Nothing here is an official statement from a Gloucester County court, the Sheriff's Office, Virginia State Police, or another government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

The website links to Gloucester County offices, Virginia judicial and agency pages, legal-aid groups, and independent search services. Following one of those links places the visitor on a service outside our control. We are not responsible for that service's material, availability, prices, security, or data practices. Its own terms should be reviewed before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code displayed on Gloucester County Criminal History belong to the website or its content partners. They may not be copied, adapted, distributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for damages arising from access to or use of the website. This limitation includes harm connected with a decision based on material found here or through an external service.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to defend and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or legal proceedings caused by that visitor's use of the website or violation of these terms. This obligation includes related costs and legal fees.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of Gloucester County Criminal History must be brought in a court located within the Commonwealth of Virginia.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. A revision becomes effective when the updated terms are posted on this page.

Effective date: August 10, 2026

13. Cutting Off Access

We may suspend, restrict, or end a visitor's access at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, every remaining provision continues in effect. The affected language will be adjusted only to the extent needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be submitted through the Contact page.
