Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is transmitted to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies the result. Gloucester County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When a visitor sends an email, the message is kept as needed to prepare a response. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers may receive routine technical information whenever a page is requested, including:
- The date and time of each page request
- The visited pages and the time spent on them
- The device's assigned IP address
- The referring website, when one is available
- The browser type and version
- The operating system and kind of device
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic in aggregate, such as which pages are visited most and where visits end. A visitor may block cookies through browser settings, although doing so can change how some website functions behave.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Gloucester County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to official sources, including Gloucester County courts and the Sheriff's Office, the Virginia Department of State Police Criminal Justice Information Services Division, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Virginia criminal-history dissemination is controlled by Code of Virginia § 19.2-389. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal-record files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search features shown on this website. Information submitted through one of those tools is handled under that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. We do not set or control a partner's retention, processing, or disclosure practices. Visitors should review the applicable partner policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Gloucester County agencies, Virginia court and state government resources, legal-aid organizations, advertising services, or outside search tools. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy governs the visit. Its policy should be read before personal information is provided.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted advertisements. We do not operate that tracking.

We do not sell personal information. Limited information may be available to:

How We Protect Your Data

Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Rights may differ according to a visitor's location and the law that applies. The Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Code § 2.2-3700 et seq., governs access to qualifying public records held by Virginia public bodies. It does not convert this privately operated website into a government agency. For information we hold about a visitor, the visitor may:

- Request deletion of personal information
- Opt out of certain processing where applicable
